The past two months have been over the top busy at our studio, as is always the case with fall. We create our own self imposed deadlines, alongside our clients expectations, and always work hard to keep our promise. So, we have burned the candle at both ends, and given up our personal life even on the weekends and holidays. We haven't posted here on Together In Style either, which love to do, but clients have to come first.

It may sound like we are complaining, but the truth is we wouldn't have it any other way. Although exhaustion is creeping in, at the end of the day we love our jobs. So this post has been a long time coming, and this episode of Our Reel Life falls right in the thick of craziness. We are in NYC for four days filled with meetings, the Photo Plus Conference, and also to film and photograph a lavish 75th Birthday Party at The Roosevelt Hotel.

We can't share it all as we just didn't have any time to film, but you can tag along with us for some of the stories. The 75th Birthday Bash was designed by Shawn Rabideau and he did a spectacular job at making sure every detail went off without a hitch. Shawn created an all star team of talent, which included our team, Maring Visuals, for photography and video, as well as Total Entertainment so it was sure to be stellar. Total Entertainment is among New York's premiere event entertainment companies and in our experience they never disappoint. From the decor, to the lighting, to the impeccable sound, and the unique acts this was a birthday party of a lifetime, and our clients had the time of their lives.

On a funny note I managed to rip my pants from top to bottom bending down to pick up a camera bag at the beginning of the event. At some point this happens to every professional that works like we do, and I suppose it was my turn. Luckily I know to wear black underwear, so I am pretty sure nobody noticed, but it did get a good laugh from those on the inside.

We have been making it a point to stay at different hotels all over the city since moving out last year. We commute in from Connecticut every few days for assignments, and have an ideal location in the city to have client meetings. In some ways we miss the city, but we are enjoying CT as well and we can own a beautiful home with acreage for less than our apartment in Manhattan. Using Hotel Tonight, a mobile app we are fond of, we usually look for last minute deals as the app narrows the options to choices that work for the budget, and for our taste and style. This time we picked The Maratime Hotel in NYC which borders our old neighborhood of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District. Unfortunately the hotel was under renovation so we really didn't get to fully experience the space at it's best. However, the service was great, the bed was comfortable, and the location is trendy so all in all we were pleased.

We did manage to get out late night in the city air for some eats with our nephew Derrick who is an intricate part of our team at major events and weddings. He has been working alongside us since he was 16 years old, and brings a lot of talent to the table. We heard the famous Empire Diner had reopened so we walked all the way there to find that they closed at midnight. Our first NYC apartment was very close to the Empire so we have fond memories of 2am breakfasts with a piano player filling the space with music. Instead, we ended up at The Meatball Shop which is just a block away. You can't go wrong with The Meatball Shop... It's low key, has great food, and the best ice cream cookies you could want for dessert. They also make a great Old Fashioned as I elude to a famous line from one of our all time favorite movies... "The Jerk" starring Steve Martin.

Well that wraps this episode of OUR REEL LIFE and the crazy lives we lead. In the next episode we are in NYC again shooting some of our newest fashions, which are about to roll out in the next couple of weeks. Hope you'll join us in our creative adventures.
