Another oil painting in a series of 70x84's I have been working diligently on has come to fruition. This piece is wildly original, and is filled with stories and bizarre characters. I've studied it for months as I found my way, and now that it's done I still seem to find images that I didn't paint on purpose. My work is unintentional in that I don't plan what I am going to paint, so I truly don't know where these stories come from. I often state that it's like finding ghosts. I move the paint around and something familiar starts to appear before me. Sometimes it's a face, other times maybe a place, but most often it's a feeling. Once I find that familiarity I'll work it for a bit. However, my goal in m painting is to allow viewers to spend some time in their own imagination and make up their own stories and mind about what appears before them. I leave enough to the imagination to allow you viewers a moment of discovery, and if I do it well, you will be discovering things you never saw before for months, possibly even years.
