Sailing has been a part of my journey since I was a kid. We were living in Houston, Tx and my dad kept a 30 foot Catalina in Galveston. We spent most every weekend out in the bay. Through the years my wife and I have owned our own boats and have spent a great deal of time sailing out of Connecticut in Long Island sound. We’ve chartered 40-50 foot sailboats and catamarans numerous times down in the Caribbean taking family and friends on epic journeys in search of pristine beaches and uninhabited islands.

Sailing is the closest thing to pure freedom I’ve ever experienced. With just the wind in our sails cruising through the water is spiritual in many ways. I don’t know if it’s the views, the sunsets, the motion, wind, weather, or rum but it often brings me to tears. There is truly no place I’d rather be. We have a dream of setting sail off into the sunset for a few months at least, and in fact had a plan to do so. However, Covid 19 has put those plans out further than we wish. So, for now I can dream, pull from the feelings I still have in my heart, write it down, and try and wrap some music around it. I’m still in search of that sand, and look forward to the day when we can live free.
